February 2019 Guest Blog Q&A

This month, I have collaborated with a delightful lady named Anni, a university student, book-lover, writer, singer, and photographer from Berlin. Below is my interview with Anni, where she talks about the Bookstagram community, her passions for her favorite stories, how books and reading inspire her everyday life, and much more!

Special Q&A Guest Blog:

1. When did you first start loving books and reading?

It started even before primary school! My mum used to read a lot to me, so I picked up some books and taught myself how to read. That way, I had already read my first “real” books while in primary school!

2. What made you begin taking book/Bookstagram/Instagram photos?

A friend of mine, who’s also a Bookstagrammer, actually inspired me to start! At first, I didn’t even know what I was doing, but I really got into as it was a great way to share my passion and opinion about books with other people – I’m really proud to be part of this community.

3. What is your favorite part of Bookstagram?

I really, really love the community. Everyone is so supportive and creative – I’m always happy when someone fangirls with me about a book or a certain character. And I also love to see all the creative posts and the photography we create with books!

4. What is your favorite book and what about it do you love?

My favorite book is definitely “A Darker Shade of Magic” by V. E. Schwab. I don’t even know why I love it THAT much – but I was hooked from the very first page. The characters, the plot, the setting – everything just felt good and right to me! Maybe I was also surprised that I loved it that much because I never expected it to be that good!

5. What is the top/are a few top books you’d recommend to someone?

As I already mentioned, I love the “A Darker Shade of Magic” series a lot! I’m a person who reads a lot of “hyped” books. I also loved “Six of Crows”, “The Cruel Prince”, and “Illuminae”!

6. In what ways have you felt that books and reading have influenced your life?

Reading, books, and Bookstagram were actually my inspiration for my study subject. I wanted to be a musical actress for a long time (maybe this will still happen, you never know 😉), but when this didn’t work out the way I thought it would, I thought: “hey, why don’t you do something with literature? You love books, you love reading – why not study it?” And now I’m here. I also started to write a book myself and it’s so much fun! My dream is to publish my novel one day, and maybe I will. I wouldn’t be where I am without books!

7. How do books, reading, and Bookstagram affect your everyday life?

Books are my way to relax. When I find the time, I love the snuggle up on my couch and take a good book with me! Bookstagram is literally my little “baby”! I’m so proud of the growth of my account. It really is one of my main hobbies to talk about books and photograph them. But time also really moves quickly when you spend your time on Bookstagram. 😉

8. Has there been a time in your life when a fictional story (book, show, movie, etc) encouraged you in a difficult season or meant something really important to your heart?

Again, I will always say “A Darker Shade of Magic”. I read it after I came back from a trip to my favorite city, Rome, and my uni life was about to start again. I was really anxious and also afraid of what the new semester and my new minor subject would bring. When I felt like going crazy over all the thoughts in my head, I picked up ADSOM and found myself in a fictional world where my problems seemed to be really small compared to all the problems the protagonists had to face! It distracted me and I really felt so good after reading some pages in it. I cannot wait to go back to that special feeling when I reread this series someday!
